Prior studies characterized short intermediate term success rates ED UI. Long-term follow-up (>4-5 years) with the inclusion specific patient reported outcome (PROM) assessment lacking available research. We hypothesized that longer more late recurrences, reflected declining PROMs, may be captured given time-dependent nature radiation damage. The objective was analyze patients who underwent for RIS due prostate cancer treatment up 19 years follow-up. METHODS: Patients were identified from 2002 2020. Inclusion criteria included completion 4-month post-operative cystoscopy a survey including IPSS, SHIM, MSHQ-EF, 6Q-LUTS, global satisfaction queries at 4 months. PROMs assessed annually, performed adverse change or worsening uroflow/PVR. excluded if they had prostatectomy non-prostatic malignancy. compared both initial visit long-term follow up. RESULTS: 23 met criteria. Mean time RT obstructive symptoms 75.9 Short-term anatomic 95.7%. At mean 73.1 months (9.1-228.9), one recurrence occurred an overall 91.3%. Significant sustained improvement voiding scores, quality life, (Table 1). Satisfaction 91.3% despite sexual side effects, 95.7% stated would surgery again knowing their over 6 years' CONCLUSIONS: are challenging problems, but durable symptomatic relief achievable well-selected should appropriately counseled regarding risk urinary incontinence effects after urethroplasty. They reassured high, QoL will subjective most cases. Outcome of anastomotic urethroplasty in bulbomembranous urethral strictures.
Poorly managed traumatic bulbomembranous urethral strictures could have a devastating effect on the quality of life. Until recently this problem was poorly managed in Sri Lanka, condemning some patients to lifelong suffering with unsettled lower urinary tract obstructive symptoms and infective complications. The commonest primary injury is pelvic fracture. A complete urethral rupture associated...
متن کاملCon: bulbomembranous anastomotic urethroplasty for pelvic fracture urethral injuries
Current literature remains controversial regarding whether to treat patients sustaining pelvic fracture urethral injuries (PFUIs) with primary endoscopic realignment (PER) versus suprapubic tube (SPT) placement alone with elective bulbomembranous anastomotic urethroplasty (BMAU). Success rates for PER following PFUI are wide-ranging, depending on various authors' definitions of what defines a s...
متن کاملUrethroplasty for long anterior urethral strictures: report of long-term results.
INTRODUCTION We reviewed the long-term outcome of substitution urethroplasty with skin flaps for anterior urethral strictures, comparing 1-stage with 2-stage repairs. MATERIALS AND METHODS A total of 45 patients with urethral strictures, 2.5 cm or longer, had undergone skin flap urethroplasty. A 1-stage surgical operation had been done in 10 patients (Orandi and bilateral pedicle island of pe...
متن کاملSubstitution urethroplasty or anastomotic urethroplasty for bulbar urethra strictures? Or endoscopic urethrotomy? Opinion: Anastomotic Urethroplasty.
There are many ways to skin a cat. An “index” 2 cm bulbar urethral stricture can be well-treated with an anastomotic technique, with ventral or dorsal buccal urethroplasty, or with direct vision internal urethrotomy. However, urethrotomy has the most limited use. Most experts think direct internal urethrotomy should be reserved for those patients not previously treated, or who are unwilling or ...

PURPOSE One-stage anastomotic urethroplasty is an attractive procedure for reconstructing the urethra following trauma. This prospective study highlights the advantages of the procedure and outcome of treatment. MATERIALS AND METHODS A total of 87 patients, age range 11-68 years with a mean of 35.4 years were included in the study. These patients were seen at two tertiary Institutions in Sout...
